Jamia Wilson

Media activist, author, speaker, blogger, radio commentator, and ardent defender of teen rights Jamia Wilson, St. Timothy's School class of 1998, is executive director of Youth Health Tech (www.yth.org) and a staff writer for Rookie Magazine. She has been named a TED Prize Storyteller. From her home in Oakland, CA, Jamia leads a life of self-discovery and activism, helping others navigate complex issues of gender, identity, race, media, and social change. This profile was written for Vérité Sans Peur, the St. Timothy's School alumnae magazine.

“'I remember a debate I had with another student in the school paper about abortion,' she says. 'We wrote point-counterpoint, and the campus was buzzing about it. That was one of the best learning moments in my life.'”
